What exactly are you purchasing when you buy a web license, print license or license buy-out?
Licenses start at $45 for a single-use license. Please contact me for a price list.
I offer several different types of licensing options. All of the default pricing options quoted on your invoice are for non-exclusive commercial licenses.
Non-exclusive licenses allow me to license the image out to publications, models or other brands. If you're interested in buying an exclusive license, you're welcome to inquire about that licensing price sheet.
Licensing options for non-exclusive commercial options are: print licenses, web licenses and license buy-outs. Exclusive commercial licenses are sold as a print/web bundle.
Buying a web license allows clients to post the image on your website, social media and use it for paid advertising (google ads, facebook, instagram, buying an ad spot in a publication.)
A client cannot provide the image to another company or brand to use for their marketing. Clients also cannot provide the image to an online publication to use for editorial purposes.
Buying a print license allows clients to print the image for their own advertising purposes: billboards, brochures, paid advertisements in publications, etc.
A client cannot provide the image to another company or brand to use for their marketing or provide the image to a print publication to use for editorial purposes.
Buying out licenses is a bundle option for clients who have custom work created for them.
When you purchase a license buy-out, you obtain a non-exclusive print and web license for each deliverable image.
No, you can only re-sell an image if you buy copyright. Having an exclusive license guarantees you are the only licensee of the image.
Commonly, licensing to multiple clients either occurs when:
- a publication is running an editorial feature on your business
-a partnered brand who has supplied product for your photoshoot wishes to license images.
You won't see your images on a stock website or on random advertisements.
The vast majority of secondary licensing offers are made because the client wishes to provide images to their partnered brands or publications.
I always contact my clients to let them know about any other secondary licensing offers.
Marketing teams, whether they are in-house or third party, are granted access to licensed images.
Feel free to contact me if you have a question.
