During my time living in Teton Valley, I worked on a number of projects for Grand Targhee.
Right after I moved to the area in 2019, I was brought on by TMBR (Jackson, WY based agency, and Targhee's AOR) to photograph a promo campaign for Grand Targhee's bike shop.
By the time I moved in late 2022, I had worked on many of Grand Targhee's large, seasonal campaigns with TMBR. Sometimes (usually for smaller projects) the resort would hire me independently. Once in a while, local magazines would hire me to document various Targhee happenings.
Highlighted here are 2 of my favorite projects from that time.

In my early twenties, I spent 4 winters working classic 'ski bum' jobs. One in operations at Big Sky Resort, another three working at a ski shop. In the years since, I had often wished I had documented that time in my life more. Realistically - it's hard to get shots that really give a glimpse into that culture unless you are actively living in it. It could have been a cool series.
When we were talking about this project, Skyler Kauf asked me if I had any ideas kicking around. Targhee wanted something down to earth, true to the resorts roots (#targheevibe). I wondered if I could create something similar to what I had envisioned from my own time working on the mountain. It wouldn't be the same as the OG vision - I would be an outsider this time, dropping into the worlds of the people who keep the resort running. Still, I believed I could get something authentic.
Skyler liked the idea, and day-of, introduced me to a few of the folks I'd be shooting with. Then I was off, flying solo and documenting what I saw.

Grand Targhee has a strong locals culture, despite being in a destination hot spot. The energy feels more like a local ski hill, rather than a massive resort. In keeping with this, for their winter 2022 campaign, one of the highlights was a group of 65+ year old skiers who have dubbed themselves the 'Targheezers'. We also shot some apres scenes, kids learning to ski and a few food & bev shots to highlight the offerings of the local watering hole - the Trap bar.
