J.W. Bennett is a high-end hat brand based in Jackson, WY and Park City, UT. We have worked together on a number of flagship campaigns to build a visual identity for the brand.
The first time I worked with J.W. Bennett, they weren't J.W. Bennett yet. Our first shoot - a behind the scenes style shoot in January 2020 - was before their rebrand, during the time they were still known as Crown and Brim. Their first large-scale campaign after the rebrand was one they trusted me to both creative direct and produce.
Throughout the years, we've worked collaboratively on creative direction for a number of campaigns. This project gallery is a little different from many of the others in this portfolio - instead of showing a single project, I wanted to showcase a number of my favorite J.W. Bennett projects from the last several years.

In January 2020, I photographed Sarah Kjorstad - founder of J.W. Bennett - throughout her creative process . It was a low-key affair, especially compared to the projects we would go on to create. Just the two of us and my camera.
The images have been featured in Ralph Lauren Magazine and Sunset Magazine, among other notable publications.

After their rebrand, the J.W. Bennett team wanted to create a flagship campaign that blended heritage, western Jackson identity with a more editorial look after their rebrand. I worked with them to refine the specific vision for this campaign, and to identify how it would fit in with their ongoing visual identity.
After we established a look, and finalized the moodboards for the project - I hired a cinamtographer, HMUA and talent. Additionally, I sourced a location on private land with a Teton View, and worked with model Sarah Hoffman to source a horse for the shoot.

For the following spring, we set out to continue building their image base. We wanted to keep the western and Jackson-inspired creative direction, but add in more images that felt light, summery and fun. This shoot included an e-commerce portion (not pictured).
The J.W. Bennett had a vision for this photoshoot, and I was able to help them refine their art direction into a final vision. I also hired a small team, developed and co-ordinated styling elements.

With J.W. Bennett's rapid growth and adding lots of new staff, they wanted a quick shoot to update our original 2020 'Behind the Scenes' imagery to include imagery of both Sarah and new staff creating hats. Additionally, they wanted headshots of their team that felt western, personal and natural. There was also an e-commerce portion of this shoot (not pictured).

This campaign was in preparation for several new releases from J.W. Bennett. They released a line of bucket hats, sweatshirts, a refreshed straw hat design, new felt hats and a bridal collection. We worked together to create a vision for imagery that felt unique to each line, but that would be consistent with the brands existing style.
For the new felt hats, we stayed consistent with the western heritage style. For the bucket hats and sweatshirts, we aimed for a more fun, young and carefree look. The bridal collection was shot to mimic the classic sunset couples shots that are a 'must-have' on most wedding shot lists. I sourced talent, hired hair and make-up and connected the location with the J.W. Bennett team to coordinate specific details.

After J.W. Bennett opened their Park City, UT location, I stopped by for a quick e-commerce and lifestyle photoshoot. I sourced some of the talent for this shoot.

Returning to their roots and wanting to include real horseback riding into some shots, we crafted this shoot and worked with JH Outfitters to make it happen. I coordinated location, talent, and creative direction.
